RE: Look what I found yesterday!

Took her to the vet today...no mites or mange so her skin problems are probably a secondary infection from the flea infestation. The vet suspects that she's been hit by a car...the sore on her foot looks more like a crush injury and the one on her back looks like a burn (hot car parts?).
No more pics yet...but I'll try to get some asap.

Look what I found yesterday!

We were driving out to the farm where my friend boards her horse yesterday and this little puppy walked out in the road and just stopped. We almost hit her, but stopped. We flagged down the cars coming the other way so they wouldn't hit her. I got out and she ran right to me.
I went house to house looking for her owners...but honestly, in the condition she's in, I'm kind of glad I didn't find them. Skinny, flea-infested, wormy, scars on her face, a big sore on her back...other sores on her. She's led a rough life in the 10 weeks or so she's been here. But she's as sweet as she can be. Not afraid of kids, horses, dogs, cats, or goats.
So, welcome Tinkerbell Zelda Skittles Privette-Price to the family! Calling her Bella for short, though my older son says he's calling her Zelda no matter what. The last thing in the world I need is another dog, so I may try to find her a home, but if I don't, she'll be mine.

RE: Who likes live theatre?

We're theatre people. In fact, my son's performance starts in almost an hour. He's 16 and has spent his whole summer at the theatre - first in Cabaret, then helping with summer camp, now doing Into the Woods. Love it!

RE: Son said throw it away.......

I think you should save them. As you know, I'm going through a separation right now which will lead to divorce. It's important for my kids to know that mom and dad loved each other and still love each other, even though we can't be married anymore. Kids need to know that they came from love.

We just bought this one...it's actually not bad at all to use. The 16 year old thinks I'm insane.

RE: Going Under the Knife Soon!

Hope it solves all of your problems, Julie. I don't have wonderful feet, but I live in Birkenstocks, so I'm hoping that I'll postpone the kind of problems my mom has had with hers.

Tent camped for the first time in years...

I'm thinking about selling the popup now. The tent set up so much easier than the popup...no worry about leveling, unhooking, setting up, etc. Just unfold a few poles and we're ready to go. Of course we had great weather...I'd probably change my mind while trying to sleep in miserable humid heat with no a/c.
My 11 year old had a great time. He doesn't remember tent camping. All in all it was a great couple of days.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

I'm so sorry to hear of Old Fella's passing. His story was an amazing journey - I remember reading that first post and wondering what would happen and, while I haven't posted often, I've always tried to keep up with the adventures of Old Fella. Richard, you and that old dog shared an amazing bond. You gave him the best years of his life and countless other dogs and cats will continue to see the benefit of that for years to come...perhaps even forever. Fella's legacy will continue to grow through the lives he touched. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.

RE: Do you ever feel...... (sorry folks)

It's been a rough couple of months for me too...lots of changes and adjustments here. I understand your worry about the job-hunt (I'm not having much luck either). My husband and I are separating...and it will lead to divorce. There will be no reconciliation. I don't have any words of advice for you, but just know that I'm thinking about you. It will get better.

RE: My Space Question

I agree with Rick...I was pretty against MySpace until fairly recently. My friend posts pictures that she takes at her horse farm and I joined so I could see them. It is a good way to keep in touch with friends. I only have a few MySpace friends and I know all of them in person as well. Just keep an eye on what the kids are doing...but if you're not the primary caregiver, make sure it's ok with the parents before you allow it at your house.

RE: So web searches do work

I have been in touch with long-lost friends through Classmates.
Sadly enough, my husband was doing a google search for a friend of ours the other night and ran across his obituary. He was just 39 when he died. Even though his death occurred a year and a half ago, it hit both of us hard. He was one of those people who came in and out of our lives...and we always thought we'd see him again. He is sorely missed, even though he's been gone for a while now.
